Líftíma

(lifecycle)

Líftíma (lifecycle) is an ongoing series of multimedia works documenting traditional preservation methods of the dead.

Líftíma: In Living Colour records the process of preservation through dismemberment and mummification, exploring traditional pagan beliefs of honoring the dead, the afterlife, and reincarnation – a process which extends the life of the subject, albeit synthetically, through abstracted digital methods. Traditional Icelandic rune stones are incorporated through the process of documentation, representing the subject’s native land and return to said land before reincarnation - a symbolic burial.
